TEXTILE PRINTING PROCESSSublimation descibes the process of a solid substance changing directly into a gas or vapour, without first passing through the intermediary liquid state. In the printing world, the term sublimation is used to describe heat-activated inks that change into a gas when heated and have the ability to bond with polyester or acrylic surfaces. Sublimated images are machine washable, scratch resistant and dishwasher safe because the image is protected within the surface.
Sublimation inks and toners transfer well onto light coloured, synthetic surfaces such as polyester or acrylic. They do not transfer onto nartural surfaces such as cotton or dark coloured surfaces. Colours are bright and the print quality is excellent. Sublimation printing provides and excellent alternative to direct screen priting. |
